Tango, Terroir & Taste: A Gourmet Adventure Through Argentina

Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, guests found themselves in a city where the elegance of Europe and the spirit of South America lived side by side. Founded by immigrants along the shores of the Rio de la Plata, Buenos Aires had built its identity on Spanish, Italian, and French influences. A stroll through neighborhoods like Recoleta and Belgrano convinced many they were still in the Old World. Even Porteños, as residents of Buenos Aires are called, described themselves as more European than South American. Although Buenos Aires had a European face, its soul was intensely Latin—a city where the sun shone brightly, conversations were passionate, and family and friendship remained paramount. Locals packed the streets, filled cafe terraces, and strolled through parks and plazas.

Exploring the Southern Area

Guests met their guide in the hotel lobby for a half-day exploration of southern Buenos Aires. Wide avenues and French architecture led to Plaza de Mayo, where history had been made countless times, and where landmarks such as Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral stood proudly. A brief journey through history brought everyone to the older parts of the city, where bohemian San Telmo revealed memories of wealthy European families through its antique stores and vibrant markets. In La Boca, once sustained by Italian immigrants, colorful constructions and the home of Tango captivated visitors. The tour concluded with a visit to chic Puerto Madero and a walk across the Women’s Bridge.

Fogón Asado Dinner Experience

Guests discovered the tradition of Asado with a twist at Fogón. A closed-door dining experience offered an intimate look at Argentine grill techniques. Seated at the bar, everyone witnessed different grilling methods up close, creating an evening that exceeded traditional steakhouse expectations. A curated tasting menu featured premium cuts of meat and fire-roasted seasonal vegetables, while optional wine pairings showcased some of Argentina's best boutique wines.

Parks & Plaza Bike Tour

Guests met their guide in the hotel lobby for a half-day bike tour through the lush northern areas of Buenos Aires. Known as the “lungs” of the city, these neighborhoods were filled with public green spaces, gardens, lakes, and plazas. The ride explored Recoleta and Palermo, blending outdoor enjoyment with urban beauty.

Sherpa Food Tour

The group embarked on a culinary journey through the trendy Palermo neighborhood. They stopped at four standout restaurants, including a Top 50 Latin America award winner. Along the way, the vibrant street art and architecture of the area added to the experience. Beginning with vermouth, continuing with a wine tasting in an iconic former mansion, and sampling historic Argentine dishes, the tour offered an authentic taste of Buenos Aires. A visit to a traditional steakhouse followed, and for those wanting more, a Top 50 Latin America Bar was ready to welcome guests for an evening cap. This walking tour brought Buenos Aires’ rich history to life—colonial times, modern times, good times, and hard times.
